Mark WyldeDrives:
▪ Spine Buster ▪ Flathead Fury Mark Wylde is almost totally consumed with hatred for his older brother Kurt Wylde. During Ignition and Speed of Silence I thought it was because of the whole Zed-36 thing, but later we learn that a ''deal'' involving Mark and Kurt went bad leaving Mark in prison, abandoned by Kurt. In prison, Mark (changing his name to ''Wylde''), buffed up and got some new tattoos and a new uncontrollable attitude. This new attitude led to a clash between Tork and Wylde when Tork ordered Monkey to take Spine Buster into the Metro realm. As the tension between the two escalated, Wylde later challenged Tork to a race for the leadership of the Metal Maniacs, which Tork lost. Wylde proved that he was inadequate for the leadership role, panicking in the face of danger and later chasing after Kurt bent on revenge. Mark eventually was knocked off the track in the Junk Realm and was captured by the Racing Drones. Learning of the capture, the Teku and Metal Maniacs risk everything to save Mark which they do - but not before Mark's arm is replaced with a robotic, Racing Drones arm. After the rescue, Mark seems to forgive his brother for their past history. Mark is also known as ''Markie,'' his diminutive name from childhood and the World Race. Artwork: Despite the increase in muscle mass, Markie's facial features look remarkably the same as he did in the World Race - once he removes his sun glasses. I was surprised to find out that the same actor plays Mark Wylde in both AcceleRacers and the World Race. What a great job he did making the character transition from a kid to a hardened maniac bent on revenge. Marks Teku Foil: Kurt Wylde Both are former World Racers reduced to local street racing gangs. Kurt has matured into a ''grandfatherly'' role whereas Markie has become the brash criminal. The voice of Wylde is played by Will Sanderson. |
